I am Professor of Economics at the University of Bristol, having previously worked at the IFS, the FSA, HM Treasury and the LSE.
I am a Research Associate at the IFS and a Research Fellow at CEPR. 

I am founder and co-chair of Discover Economics, a campaign to increase diversity among economics students. 

I was awarded an OBE in the 2022 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to economics and education and the 2025 Professional Services medal by the Royal Economic Society.

I am Secretary of the Regional Standing Committee of the Econometric Society and serve on the Financial Conduct Authority's CBA panel and the Leverhulme Foundation's Advisory Panel. Previously, I have been chair of the Royal Economic Society’s (RES) Women’s Committee (2017-20), an elected member of the RES council (2012-2017) and the European Economics Association council (2014-2018), and Deputy Chair of the REF2021 Economics and Econometrics sub-panel. 

I have three children (born 2001, 2004 and 2006). Out of work, I enjoy trail running and "wild" swimming
